ON HIATUS
concīs is devoted to brevity: the succinct, pithy, condensed, laconic, crisp, compressed and compendious. It’s simple in approach and simple in design…but not simple-minded. Genre—if you believe in such labels—is unimportant: poems, prose poems, flash fictions, micro-essays, reviews in miniature, sudden fictions, haiku, tanka, American Sentences, insights, epigrams, the unclassifiable…they’re all good.
Generally this means: poems (often significantly) under 20 lines or prose (again often significantly) under 250 words, visual works and audio/video/hybrid forms that last 30 seconds or less.We want poetry and prose of the two-inch punch. Pull the pin from the grenade. Bring us the bud exploding into flower. Surprise us.
